These beautiful heirloom chillies are the pride and joy of Andhra Pradesh's heat-centric cuisine!
We've been adding the whole chillies to curries, stews, or a big pot of beans. They are perfect for tempering, or for grinding into a spice blend (we highly recommend this Andhra recipe for gunpowder). Whereas the powdered chillies (ground with cold pressed sesame oil and sea salt) are what we use in a pinch - spicier than paprika and milder than cayenne, they bring pasta sauce to life, add a lil kick to roasted potatoes, and taste incredible on braised chicken thighs. Just sayin'

Grown in accordance to the principles of zero budget natural farming (ZBNF) on the Narne family farm in the historic chili growing region of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Brothers Hanumantharao and Satyanarayana Rao are climate change activists and likely the only pesticide-free chilli farmers in the region. They make us believe in the future of sustainable agriculture in India, as our elders, and teachers.
