Meet the Maker
Kula Nursery is a grassroots urban nursery working within and for BIPOC communities to increase food sovereignty through gardening education and culturally relevant plant starts. The mission at Kula Nursery is to reconnect the diaspora with heritage food, strengthen food sovereignty among these communities, and promote cultural and biological diversity. As a heritage nursery, we believe the act of growing, tending to, and eating heritage foods encourages folks to reclaim their power within the local food system while simultaneously honoring and connecting to their ancestors, immediate family and community at large.

About your kadipatta:
Known as curry leaf trees or as Murraya Koenigii, kadipatta plants are beautiful and ubiquitous additions to many South Asian and diasporic homes. They're often considered the most essential herb and houseplant for any South Asian kitchen. While these plants are notoriously finnicky when grown in North America, your plant comes with endless tips and knowledge of how to keep 'em healthy! With your kadipatta plant, you get access to ourKadipatta Care Communityon Discord! You'll have access to head horticulturalist Zee, who has been growing these kadipatta planties from seed.
Care:
These plants are around 9 months old. After you receive your plant, you can repot it into a slightly bigger pot and fertilize every other week for the rest of the summer. They can either be left outside, somewhere with morning and mid-afternoon sun, or indoors on a sunny windowsill. Mist often and water when soil feels dry. When the nighttime temperatures dip down into the 40s in the Fall, bring the tree back inside. Read the full care guide that Zee created here!
