Meet the maker

Né Nepal was founded by Tulja and Ishu in 2018 out of a shared love for Nepalese art, craft, and culture, and a desire to see the incredible work of Nepalese artisans valued on a global stage. They started by working with makers they already knew through their families and communities, building long-term relationships around the idea that handcraft should be treated as skilled, valuable work. These ornaments are made in Kathmandu by a team of 15 women and 4 men who have been practicing felt-making for more than 15 years. Each piece is shaped, rolled, and detailed by hand, turning wool, water, soap, and a whole lot of patience into the tiny Tiger, Bull, Mango, and Chilli you see here. We love the little variations that come with that process, they’re a reminder that these aren’t factory-made decorations, but pieces made by real hands.

What kinds of products are available under $25?

More than you'd expect, honestly. This collection includes our individual single-origin spices and spice blends, the Spice Sampler, cookbook postcards, and other smaller picks that are big on flavor and easy on the wallet. It's the best place to shop if you want the full Diaspora Co. quality without committing to a larger order.

Are these products suitable for gifting?

Very much so. A single tin of our turmeric or Chai Spice is the kind of gift that feels considered and specific, not like you just grabbed something off a shelf. These make great hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, desk drops, or a thoughtful add-on to something bigger. Good taste doesn't have to cost a lot.

Are the spices in this range the same quality as everything else?

One hundred percent. We don't have a budget tier. Every single spice we sell, at every price point, is single-origin, sourced directly from regenerative farms across South Asia, and freshly milled for maximum flavor and aroma. The under $25 products are simply smaller quantities, not a smaller standard.

Is this a good place to start if I'm new to Diaspora Co.?

It's genuinely the perfect place. Picking up one or two individual spices before going bigger is a great way to get a feel for what we're about without overcommitting. Our Spice Sampler was basically made for this exact moment. Start here, fall in love, and then you'll know exactly what to stock up on next.

Can I find something for someone who already cooks a lot?

Absolutely. Experienced home cooks tend to love our single-origin spices, the ones they'd never find at a grocery store, like our Kashmiri saffron, Nandini coriander, or Pragati turmeric. Under $25 gets you something genuinely special, the kind of thing a seasoned cook will immediately recognize as higher quality.
