I am ridiculously happy about my salt tiger. He was worth the wait. He’s gorgeous.

beautiful piece, function could use some work
I was so excited to finally get this and it does add a pop of color to my kitchen. People have raved about this and I generally agree but here are the things I wish I could change since that might be more helpful if you're thinking about buying this. The decoration (eyes, whiskers, etc) is painted on flat when I thought it might have some more texture, and the whites of the tiger's eyes are just slightly off-white, more pink/orange which I don't love - this is totally fine for functionality of course, just personal aesthetic and there aren't many close-ups in the stock photos which I would recommend so people know exactly what they're getting! In addition, unfortunately I'm finding using the spoon to be a learning curve - it is a thicker ceramic than I was imagining, likely for sturdiness, but it's somewhat clumsy in picking up the salt compared to Diaspora's metal spice spoons. With the curve it also sits a certain way and is easy to sometimes flip salt out of the tiger if put down wrong. For such an investment I think I expected just a bit more out of this, but overall I'm still glad I bought it and am always happy to support this company.

beautiful piece, spoon could be better
I eyed this for a very long time and finally bought it. It's a beautiful piece that really brightens up my kitchen. I have two issues with it, one cosmetic and one more functional. The colors were just a tiny bit duller than I was expecting and the ceramic paint flatter than I imagined (I think I had imagined some texture where the eyes etc were painted based on the photo) - but I think this is a matter of personal preference so not too big of a deal. In terms of functionality, I actually am finding the spoon a little difficult to use - for context my prior setup was with the metal, thinner Diaspora spice spoon. The spoon/tongue is a bit unwieldy and clunky. Maybe I will get more used to it but I'm finding that sometimes it's hard to scoop a big amount of salt due to the thickness of the ceramic (I understand this thickness is likely necessary for structural integrity but I was not really expecting it to be that thick based on the photo), and that the spoon only balances a certain way so if I'm not careful it will tilt and spill salt out of the tiger. These are disappointing parts of such an expensive investment, but overall I am generally happy with this purchase and happy to support this company. Perhaps the stock photos could include more angles and photos of the components for a more informed purchase (e.g. close up of the ceramic/glaze detailing, closeup of the spoon by itself).
